For our client, an international company in the life sciences sector, we are seeking an experienced 

Packaging Engineer (all genders)

GeneralInformation:

  • Location: Basel

  • Home Office: Possible, after onboarding

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Provide expert knowledge in packaging processes, materials, and design
  • Represent Technical Services in cross-functional and joint process teams
  • Ensure compliance with global standards, regulatory requirements, and GMP guidelines
  • Manage and support change control activities for assigned products
  • Oversee and review manufacturing documentation (e.g., SOPs, master batch records, process instructions)
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, including process performance updates and project status
  • Participate in site visits to external manufacturing partners to assess capabilities and resolve technical issues
  • Ensure appropriate control strategies are established and maintained for all assigned products
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data analysis and process knowledge
  • Support the preparation and review of Annual Product Reviews (APR/PQR)
  • Contribute to technical documentation for regulatory submissions, inspections, and audits
  • Lead or support product transfers, tech transfers, and new product introductions
  • Support investigations related to deviations, complaints, and process issues
  • Act as the primary technical contact for assigned external manufacturing partners

Your Profile:

  • Advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in Life Sciences or Engineering (e.g., Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Packaging Engineering)
  • 5–10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, or related manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience in technical services, manufacturing science, or packaging technologies
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and packaging systems
  • Sound knowledge of GMP, quality systems, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in process validation, change control, and process monitoring
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply statistical tools to solve complex problems
  • Experience with technical transfer and product lifecycle management
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional, international, and external partner environments
  • Confident in presenting and defending technical positions
  • Structured problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are an advantage
  • Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 10–30%)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
